We were asked by a few people to release something like a Demo. We made it now!
Watch the clip and feel free to comment ...
For those who want to know something about the used songs read the following remarks:
What would it take? La Mimosas (Recorded March 2012)
It is some of our own stuff. The idea of this song comes out by accident. We discovered one of those virtual instrument on the PC and we found that groovy arpeggiator sound which we took as the basic theme for the song. We add two guitars, a Keyboard, some Horns and Brass. That's it!
After the creation and recording of the vocal line we enhanced the song with a few breaks and sounds to make it a bit more interesting.
You can listen to the entire song on our homepage www.lamimosas.de.
Come together The Beatles (Recorded September 2011)
Nothing is really to say to that outstanding Beatles song.
We love that song since years and play it in our programs for a long time.
It is more or less a one take recording. We did during a session with our friend Reiner Backe (Bass).
At the end we only add a few additional backing vocals - done.
It is a real 'highlight' on our gigs.
Soul on fire La Mimosas (Recorded Summer 2011)
That is one of favorite song in the program. It was also an accident by testing a Yamaha sound generator (Motif XF -great tool). Just the basic groove, Piano, Brass, Bass, Vocals - ready to go ...
Interesting - you won't here any Guitar on the take. We just forgot it ... and we never add one.
On stage Uli is playing a Guitar to the song.
You can here the complete song on our homepage www.lamimosas.de.
Name and Number La Mimosas (Recorded February 2012)
That was a planned production. As it was planned - it took us a long time before we were ok with the song. The first version contains a lot of instruments and gimmicks. It was absolutely overloaded. In the end we reduced it to Drums, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Lead Guitar and Piano. Thanks again to Reiner.
He played a fantastic bass line.
When it rains La Mimosas (Recorded October 2012)
It is the newest outcome of our work. Not sure what it is but we like it. We would name it a pop ballad. Just a few guitars and keyboards. Not really a great effort. We never played the song on stage so far and we're not sure if it works. We will see ...
Say John Mayer (Recorded September 2012)
It is a fantastic song. We didn't knew it. At first we heard that song in a movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman (The Bucket List) ... It fits good into the La Mimosas program so we decided to make a cover. We also like to play that as an 'unplugged' version - using just an acoustic guitar.
On the track you hear some more instruments.
Since the end of 2010 we started our current project LA MIMOSAS.
We are always asked by the people: “What’s the reason for that crazy name?”
In the following you can read a brief explanation.
The name was created during a funny family dinner in 2010.
We took a bulk of tasty red vine over a few hours. Two unknown guys played some music in the background. No - they didn't play their instruments. They just handled with one of these Japanese entertainer key-boards and threw out one Midi file after another; all of those which you can buy in the music store around the corner or download them at Amazon or wherever. Quite a lot of stuff for us... handmade musicians!!! The sound was horrible …
We didn't know the names of the two guys.
Andreas was the first who said:
"Their name must be LA MIMOSAS or something like this".
Well we created some funny stories around the name, the places where the two guys probably perform and the audience they might be playing for.
I am not able to repeat that kind of childish prattle. Nobody could follow.
You know those jokes were that kind of stuff you only can understand if you are directly in the situation with the same level of alcohol which we had …
The evening ran through our fingers.
Later on we entered the stage and played a few songs - without using midis. Just with an acoustic guitar! We played some Stones, Beatles and Mellencamp stuff.
It was a big fun due to the fact that we really have had enough of that tasty red vine.
The audience - mainly people from Belgium on a trip to Germany – asked enthusiastic:
"Who are these guys?”
Andreas answered spontaneously:
"We are La Mimosas and we're going to rock the house."
So - the name and the concept were born and that is the simple story behind the name and the beginning of the La Mimosas story.
Before you ask the question:
Yes we know that La Mimosas is the wrong Spanish spelling. But we won't rename it.
We see that as the originary freedom of arts. Take it this way …
The concept follows a simple idea:
We like to entertain our audience with good music from each genre we love to play.
It equals if it is pop, rock, soul, funk, black music or crossover – you name it however you like to name it.
Yes of course - we use also playbacks. But we never use midi files that make similar and comparable sounds with at least one millions of other bands and musicians. No!
Each single tone is played by ourselves or friends of us.
Each song is recorded, produced and mastered in our own studio.
That gives a specific and unique La Mimosas sound.
That's a key element for us!
On stage we mix up the program with our own compositions and cover songs.
In addition to that we enhance the show with an acoustic set – only with guitar and great vocals.
A Live Gig is a statement for fun and party
That is our easy message!
Feel free to join one of our Live shows – we would appreciate it.
If you like to know, what a real Mimosa is – watch the following video. I found it on Youtube.
But be sure:
Even if we are sensitive and emotional - It has nothing to do with our general attitude and performance on stage!
Hope to see you soon.
